Leads is an experiment. It gives a workspace a small team of standing chats:
a Tech lead (the workspace's orchestrator, renamed), the leads you pick,
such as Marketing and Product, and a chief of staff that sees the
whole team. Each lead keeps your direction, writes a short memo of where it is,
and can message the other leads. With Leads off, nothing changes.

Turn it on#

Open Settings → Experiments and turn on Leads. This creates nothing by
itself: each workspace gets leads only when you add them.

Add leads to a workspace#

Open the workspace menu (the workspace's name at the top of the sidebar) and
choose Add leads…. Tick the leads you want:

  • Tech lead is always ticked. It is your orchestrator, in place: its chat,
asks, schedules and history stay as they are. It is the only lead that
    merges code.
  • Marketing lead and Product lead start from a short generic charter
    that you can rewrite.
  • Custom lead takes a name, such as Design, and starts with a blank
    charter.

For each lead you can start a new chat or adopt one of the workspace's chats
(see below). Adding leads also creates the workspace's chief of staff.
Run Leads… again later to add the ones you skipped.

The team then sits at the top of the sidebar, chief first. A lead with nothing
pinned says so, and each shipped lead you haven't added shows as a faded
Add lead row that opens the same sheet.

Adopt a chat as a lead#

If you already have a chat doing a lead's job, open its ⋯ menu and choose
Adopt as lead… (it is under Automate when the menu groups items), then
pick which lead it becomes. The chat keeps its whole conversation.

Adoption runs in two steps, so nothing important is lost:

  1. The lead writes its memo and suggests pins from your own messages in that
    chat.
  2. You open its direction strip, keep the pins you agree with, and tap
Pin and switch over. Only then does it move to a fresh start that
carries its memo and your pins.

Only Claude chats on this machine can be adopted, and not a task's session.

Your direction#

Anything you tell a lead can be pinned from the message's menu with Pin as
direction
. A pin is always your own words, copied by AgentOS, so a lead
can't claim you approved something without a pin to show. The strip above a
lead's chat shows the newest pin; tap it to see them all, unpin one, or read
the lead's memo.

The chief of staff#

The chief reads what the leads record (their pins, memos, decisions and open
asks), never their chats. It acts only when you ask it to in its chat, and it
tells a lead in that lead's chat whenever it starts something in the lead's
area. Each morning it runs one read-only sweep and raises asks for anything
that needs you.

On a phone#

In a lead's chat, the team sits in a row under the header: tap Tech,
Marketing, Product or Chief to switch without opening the sidebar.
The direction strip shrinks to one line; tap it for the full list.
